Introduction
One of the great trials facing the jobbing pirate is the task of finding worthwhile crews to job with if noone among one's Usual Gang is running a pillage. Crew fame is not a helpful indicator, as Crew Fame is driven much more by volume of crew activity than by crew pillaging performance; a sufficiently large crew can live its life perpetually on the Crew Fame list no matter how inept its BNavers are, and many smaller crews eminently worth jobbing with never show up on the Crew Fame list because they don't generate enough activity to be Illustrious or Eminent.
A crew's description on its information page is unfortunately not much more helpful. There are many crews with eloquent descriptions whose BNavers can't battle their way out of a wet paper bag, and there are many seemingly illiterate descriptions masking crews whose BNavers are rock stars of the highest order.
As a result, finding worthwhile crews to job with for pillages has generally been something of a crap shoot... until now.
This website ranks qualifying crews weekly on each ocean based upon three pillaging statistics:
- (non-PVP) Battle Win Ratio (higher is better)
- Battle Disengage Ratio (lower is better), and
- Average Daily Battles per Officer (ADBO) (higher is better).
The qualification criteria, exact mechanics of how these statistics are computed, and how these statistics are used to create these rankings can be found in the Gory Details section.
